23 oct Jane reports 5 birds (+2 more that couldn't get in)
roosting in the First 88 nest hole.
24 oct I set ambush, but only 1 bird goes in (no others even visit)
25 oct 0730 Taking down ambusher. I notice that the
birds here are very bold & vocal. 5 sat in 2nd
nest tree while I just stood there (also heard
more in another tree). So there's been a power
struggle - or they're still getting to know e/o.
- More roost watches - always just 1 bird
1 Nov 1500 NOBA ♀ at granary. Set ambush
2 Nov 0600 Ambush! Caught ♀ 1377 (seen by Jane here and
not previously seen since Lthay P.S. (1988?)), caught
2 NOBA ♂♂ (now 1675 & 1676). I think
there are still birds to be caught here (is a PS
still going on here?). Blood + plasma.
5 Dec 0600 Ambush! NOBA ♂ (now 1678) in 88a hole. I also
set ambush at the "lower hole" of the pair in the
typical tree - a bird went in, but I then turned
to watch the 88 hole. There was no one in the
traditional hole this am - either because it left
last night or escaped this morning through the upper
hole - to which the lower is now connected.
