(18 Mar) acorn carrying since those 2 events this morning.
1600 Just saw a bird flycatching (1 sortie) At least I
think it was flycatching - it could have decided to return
to its perch after taking off. The birds are feeding
on green acorns. Feeding bouts on an acorn are often
disturbed by other birds (non-group members)
1615 A bird just left the curve oak with an acorn. It flew to
the same destination as this morning! This tree is a
healthy green oak with no visible dead limbs. Furthermore,
the bird flew into the center of the crown.
Just saw a Nuttall's sized woodpecker (see back of p.6) pecking
in the dirt bank of the road cut! Primaries + 2°

1750-1810 Roost watch. @5 birds were hanging out in
the hotel tree r environs on arrival. They left @ 1757.
1804 2 birds returned, sat around for 1 minute then

1807 3 more birds arrived - 2 engaged in pre-roost
mounting - the third flew over and interrupted it. 1809
one bird entered & roost hole. 1910 the 2 last birds,
after 1 mount, both roosted in that hole. So... 5 birds
in this one roost hole.

the ground only to return to the post without landing. Is
