1988 M. Stanback M. Formicivorus LA2 HNHR 29 Mar 0810 Door to 87b nest hole had Fallen out. I replaced it, but didn't have a hammer. Saw 1117 (RW). Also saw NOBA 8, who seemed at home here and was chasing intruders, of which there were several; & 1117 was chasing another bird. The NOBA 8 has been here @ 1 yr, why was he removed? 1140 & 1234 is at Big T Dec 97 Acorn Count: 5900 11 Apr 0900 Repaired 87b hole 28 Apr 0700 Nest! Incest!(?)! Hatched today. 3 hatchlings and one egg - in the hole that mom was found dead in last year. Deep hole. Will cut tomorrow. Clutch 4 = incest? 29 Apr 0800-0900 Cut hole (nice job) RL = 9.1, LL = 10.7, RW = 7.8, LW = 5.6 30 Apr 0815 RL = 12.1 LL = 14.4 RW = 10.7 LW = 7.55 1 May 0830 14.8 18 12.4 10.4 3 May 0630 23.7 (10) = 0 28.1 (10.9) = K 20.5 (9.15) = G 14.4 6 May 0730 Dead Babies. They had been killed. Though the weather's been bad, the didn't appear to have starved. All had peck marks. I also Found 2 crown Feathers in the nest. My guess is infanticide - the breeder 8 (assume it's the daughter) died and was replaced. However, I never heard any weirdness here. Baby weights are as Follows: 16 May 0800-0915 Census: 9 1371 (MV-LB/R) and 1117 (RW) Also 2 88 (I think). I had BDB/LB DB or something like that. Birds flew to west area, but hello got nothing.
