The hole was a seething mass of ants - I don't know how (or if) the adults were able to land to Feed. The whole tree was covered. In the 50 sec it took me to get into the tree or to the kids, I was covered. Inside the nest, the kids were relatively ant-Free. I did measurements on the ground. In opening the door and getting the kids out, I squashed lots of ants. I hope the kids are alright.
