KOUT
HNMHR
29 Mar 0910 NOBA & at KOUT. What's going on here. Watched
0930-1030. There are at least 2, probably more
NOBA & here. They spend a lot of time in the
granary eating acorns. They were seen in the
company of 8A, peaceful. There's lotsa chasing,
waras, garriks. A lot of the action is towards
AR6W. Saw Big Tree & 1319 (all bands) up here,
& 1127 seen here. Also saw 3 MTDB with lotsa
tail spots - who is this? A1 & 1027? The 87
nest tree is finally dead - and a big chunk of it
(including the 87 nest hole and the horiz roost holes)
has fallen - rather recently. This explains the
power struggle - some birds must have died. The
tree fall is recent enough to have green grass under
it, but old enough to have a wood vint house built
in it. No bodies found in roost hole.
Dec 87 Acorn Count: 6312 +1450 (AR6W?) = 7763
6 Apr Roost Watch: Plenty of activity here - lotsa wakes +
flying back & forth in groups. Several birds roosted
in a new hole in main granary. The higher of the
2 new ones on this limb (wasn't able to watch the
other hole).
(Jane had seen some last week)
