1988 M. Starback M. Formicivorus KOUT HNMHR 29 Mar 0910 NOBA & at KOUT. What's going on here. Watched 0930-1030. There are at least 2, probably more NOBA & here. They spend a lot of time in the granary eating acorns. They were seen in the company of 8A, peaceful. There's lotsa chasing, waras, garriks. A lot of the action is towards AR6W. Saw Big Tree & 1319 (all bands) up here, & 1127 seen here. Also saw 3 MTDB with lotsa tail spots - who is this? A1 & 1027? The 87 nest tree is finally dead - and a big chunk of it (including the 87 nest hole and the horiz roost holes) has fallen - rather recently. This explains the power struggle - some birds must have died. The tree fall is recent enough to have green grass under it, but old enough to have a wood vint house built in it. No bodies found in roost hole. Dec 87 Acorn Count: 6312 +1450 (AR6W?) = 7763 6 Apr Roost Watch: Plenty of activity here - lotsa wakes + flying back & forth in groups. Several birds roosted in a new hole in main granary. The higher of the 2 new ones on this limb (wasn't able to watch the other hole).
