1988 M. Stanback M. Formicivorus Mill 30 Mar 1135 2 birds Flushed From S side of tree - I think From a new hole in an upright snag coming out of a big S pointing horiz limb. Hole Faces W. ↑ Dec 87 Acorn Count: 200 9 Apr 1200 Bird in down Facing hole at Fork in limb that points toward pond. I thought I heard pecking before the bird stuck its head out. 10 Apr 1045, 0900 No one in hole when I cruised by. 11 Apr 1500 Bird Flashed From hole. (9 Ap hole) 20 Apr 1720 Bird in hole 21 Apr 1500 Cut open hole (rotten, weird...a bit?) , but can barely touch the 4 semi-Freshish eggs. 26 Apr pm I Flushed the adult out and listened - but heard no kids 29 Apr 1600 Hatched! 3 kids + 1 pipping. I get the hole so I can get my hand in. RL = 5.7 LL = 7.0 RW = 4.2 1 May 1615 Failed. It seems the inner door in this rotten hole collapsed on 29 apr. I retrieved 2 dead kids and a semi smashed pipping egg. Damn. 13 May 0900 Bird in 30 Mar hole 1300 Climb - bird in hole, but no eggs 15 May 1220 Bird in hole 17 May 1415 " 19 May 1500 Peeped eggs (≥4) Very rotten limb - paper thin - started saving w Knife, decided I need to return w glue + tape 26 May 0840 Finished door (no glue/tape used, but fragile) 5 opaque eggs. 23 May 1540 Still not hatched - and not good for photo (ladder?) 25 May 1430 RL = 5.7, LL = 5.0, + 3 eggs
