1988 M. Stanback M. Formicivorus CVL HNHR (8 Jun) 1600 Climbed hole - 4 Fresh eggs! But cutting is a chore. 6" thick live sycamore. I make less than 2 of the cuts and that takes @ 1 hr. I blow out as much sawdust as I can before coming down (but 2 of the eegs are still covered) Sorry, but I'd be up there 2 hrs. 9 Jun 1530 They didn't seem to mind - they laid 2 more eggs. I Finished the cut and marked all 6 eggs (2 seemed Fresher so I marked them as such. There was a runt egg (the 6th). I removed it - things are getting tight in there and I want no wasted space. (When was it laid) 14 Jun 0930 Oh shit. I cavalled the runt egg and saw no yolk, so I blew out the contents - and found a yolk (this was on 13 Jun) On 14 Jun I climb hole and see they didn't lay more eggs. Since they had 9 the First nest I Figured they'd lay 8 in this. So, Final clutch = 6. However, I removed small egg : 5, and now I see that they removed an egg, so clutch is now 4. 20 Jun 0835 RL = 4.3 21 Jun 0900 RL = 6.1, LL = 4.6, RW = 4.4, LW = 4.6 22 Jun 0745 8.58 6.22 4.78 6.25 23 Jun 0735 9.6 7.38 5.3 7.8 24 Jun 0730 11 9.5 4.7 9.55 26 Jun 0835 17.2 (9.65), 14.2 gone 13.8 28 Jun 0815 23 (11.5) = O, 21.9 (10.85) = B, 19.6 (10.6) = W 30 Jun 0820 29 (12.9) 28.1 (12.3), 24.2 (12) 2 Jul 0745 37.3 (14.15) 36.6 (14.1) 31.7 (12.3) what's going on here?
