The day is rainy but above freezing, getting colder by night. Retire at 9.30. Reading on- train: Vivian Gentry's The Strangest Friendship in History. January 1 - 1933. A cold night in sleeping car, but bright with dawnshine in southern Virginia. Drove on all the waters down into North Carolina. South of this state it warmed up very slowly. Dawnshined at 6 this Sunday. Got to St. Augustine a half hour late = 11 P.M.
