Oct 31-1896 Saturday Claiborne, Ala. Spent the day collecting along the Buffalo Creek and down the streams from Claiborne. Picked up two pecks of loose shale. Later made arrangements to have two bands of sand splitter the Smithsons. Paid $20 to Mr. S. H. Tutill. Went to saw at 4.30 P.M. and secured a little if an on until about nine P.M. Claiborne to Jopville Nov. 1-96 Sunday. The boarding place in Claiborne is so bad that I concluded to leave and spend Sunday in Jopville. Left the former place at 7.10 and
