and in marking the specimens place the sheet letter first Dr C, etc - next place the block number 1 2 3 etc (Cabinets) next the block letters thus, Dr.2.B. The first section for each block will be letters 1 The second section 2. Each zone of the sections give a small letter following the section number, thus, 1a, 1b, 1c, etc., marking each zone of the section whether containing fossils or not, but in general giving one zone letter for the rocks not containing fossils unless some prominent change in character of the strata is observed and can be decided. In making long sections which pass across from one block to the next - change its block designation, for instance if it passes from block 2 to 3. The block designations will change from Dr.2.B to Dr.3.B. If the change is going southward then its designation will change from Dr.2.B to Dr.2.C. In marking the collections put the Block designations above a line and its zone designations below thus, Dr.2.B, 1a, 1b, etc. On passing from one block to next begin the zonal designations again thus if sections pass from Dr.2.B to Dr.3.B. the next zone will be marked Dr.3.B + write then go on 1a 1b 1c etc - In each case of crossing a block line note in notebook between which zones the boundary line comes, as between Dr.2.B and Dr.3.B 1f A.S.Williams x cover
