Dr 13 I'm in block 13 & just below Covering Swaggon road and Sparry mill creek is an Qe of hard shale. The stone has been stopped by the stream while they is about a half acre uncovered. It shows a decided joint structure, the joint plane being approximately N 65 deg E and S 82 deg W. All this plane but fingerately parallel. At this place then is a small dyke running NNE and SSE. It started at a point in south part, extends north for 25 pace where it jumps to the east and continues being under water but still in sight for 6 or 7 open fathoms making an angle of approx 3 deg passes horizontal distance. The dyke therefore is 30 pace long the south end pinching out at right angle while the north end stops abruptly at a cross joint and is replaced by a fine seam of shale. The dyke is 27 thick throughout most of the exposure but for 26 at both ends it is less than that. It is much softer material than the dyke in Cascadilla gorge being a sort of conglomerate, of a greenish color. Dr 13 F. This section starts in small ravine in N end some 1 block 13 F. A old gay mill just above wagon road. Below the road there are 75 or 80 ft shales and 15' between but they were not worked a Covered from Swaggon road b Bluish gray s2. c Bluish gray rather fisile sh d Hard s.s. band (M) e' e Bluish gray sh f Covered x g Bluish gray, silky sh, s2, Ash.
