1987 M. Stanback 2 M. Formicivorus H-B HUHR (15 April) Anyway, I watched From d.F places 'til 0830. Then I climbed the 86 hole. World's largest nastiest Fungus inside. Also wet r votton. I cleaned it out best I could. Oh yes From about 0740 - 0800, there was massive Flycatching by 7-8 birds on the summit. Scrub jays too. Watching again by 0900. 0920 Well, it's about time. Between 0920 - 0930 birds visited 3 holes (A,B,C) in one tree. Birds entered A+B, stayed in A longest, but visited C most often. See pic on back. C is an old hole with a door located in the base of a small slump (upright) 18 April 0930-1030. No luck. No mate guarding. Rapidographs. 1 May 1430 No luck belling holes. There's a starling nest near the pitted out hole in the lone tree by the fence. 2 May 1745 spent about 10 min staring at "my" suspect tree From School Hill. No birds flew in or out. 14 May Walt reports all 6 eggs in Fine shape in the Fence hole. 20 May 1000 Checked nest. (Should've done it yesterday). Windy RL = 8.4 LL = 8.4 (seemed smaller) RW = 4.8 [goo, must be back] dead baby = 7.18. There was a baby stuck inside a half hatched - half crushed egg. I helped it out. Therefore, I'll assume that all 6 eggs hatched (since there was no egg). 5 are accounted for, but the brood will probably end up as 2. 21 May 1645 RL = 14.5 LL = 12.5 Bk = 9.25 W = 4.25 22 May 1630 RL = 17.1 LL = 16.7 Bk = 10 W = 4.6
