1987 M. Stanback M. Formicivorus 1500 ES&R HNHR 17 May Katy reports bird in traditional hole. 26 May am hello'd holes. No luck 10 June 1500 Watched 15 min. No nestiness. 15 June 1730 Acorn Count : 90 13 Aug 0815 I hear lotsa waskas here (From Pump) 22 Aug 1430 Bees in the traditional hole. Door missing from "low" hole. I put it back in w string. 27 Aug 0930 Saw ♂ 297 (YR10) 31 Aug 0715-0730 Saw ♂ 1367, and 2 (?) other birds: 1274? Saw ♂ 297. Maria saw 3 birds (: 1274?) 10 Sept 1500-1540 Watched for nestiness - dead. Bees in hole. 17 Sept 0815-1000 Census & nestiness watch. The birds did not show any overt signs of a nest. Lotsa sitting, playing w acorns. Saw ♂ 297, ♂ 1274 ♂ 1367. Twice though I saw extra birds (at least 2). These could be Pump spillovers (but they seemed to come from 1800- Haystack) 23 Sept 1700-1720 Watched from distance. Saw no nestiness 0645-0730 "" Afterward looked For holes. The one in the down pointing snag in the main granary looks likely. The traditional! hole seems to have lost its bees. 2 Oct 0815-0835 Watched for nestiness - none. Then delloed holes. Bees are gone 0945 Stop to spy from lane. Ah ha! Bird into bee hole! 1115 LBR/LB (Connie saw this bird (maybe 685)) maybe ♂ 1109 (was Chgo ♂)
