2 July set ambush at nest hole in hopes of nabbing the juv
(even tho ther'd been no roost watch) No one went in.
(Bird in 86 nest hole when I checked dog food)
3 July Decided to leave ambush up, bird flushed from 86.
hole again. At 1230 I checked 86 hole (bird
Flushed) and found the juv inside !! No ambush
necessary now !! 83.5, 139, 24.4, 17.45, 8.7,
81 (= wt, chr, TC, TN, BW, T) And underneath the
baby? 6 eggs!! Geez. I didn't check their age,
but if the dog food data means anything, it should
be soon! Is this a Fall nest or a dog food nest?
Stupid neanderFuck... I Forgot to get hematocrit!
1440 Checked nest again. No one flushed. Eggs very cold.
It was hard reaching the bottom, so I pulled out only 1 egg.
It looked very Fresh (and was round). Sooo.... maybe
she's not Finished laying (?) or if she is, why aren't
they incubating? I hope they don't abandon just
because I caught a baby inside. Note Philip that
a starling nested in this hole earlier in the spring.
5 July 1300 Are incubating.
6 July 1500 Filled Feeder to top of tape. Aye, 'tis a wee bit of
a puzzle here. I numbered and measured eggs, but they
still look Fresh and aren't especially warm.
