1987 M. Stanback M. Formicivorus UA2 HUHR 4 July 0830 Saw 1380 alone, moved to granary area - helped holes - no response, set up blind facing dead granary. 0910 1379 > 1380 (ie BMV > KLP) Gee, I hope I didn't get that turned around. Anyway, it was a gentle displacement - 1380 turned his head away & moved several inches, surrendering his pecking spot. 16 pecks between the 2 birds. Later, the b& stole a piece of acorn from a baby. (1378) 0955 Alarm call; I watched a bird fly from across the ravine to the 86a nest tree and go to + hole A. It went in, stuck its head out of A, the head in and moments later stuck its head out B, where it eventually came out c - destroyed. & bad view, is there another here? 1022: stop watch. 1025 Whoa! → → 1378 + 1379 engaged in an exactly equal mutual peck/kiss. (Non aggressive) 7 July 0930 - 1116. Tur watch: saw 1378 + 1379, no interactions (I think they're too independent now) 1340 was trying to steal 1379's food, 1379 fought back, soon 1140 came over - really beat up 1340. Also seen: 1225, 1027. 6 Aug R. Mumme reports 1140, 1222, 1225, 1027 at A1 25 Aug At A1 I see the Following UA2 1378: 1140 + 1222. (Others were probably here as well.) So it seems UA2 helper 1378s are now A1 breeders. 1045 - 1115. Census at dead gran from blind. Nothing. 11 Sept 1130 Helped holes - nothing.
