1987 M. Stanback M. Formicivorus BKOK HUNHR 10 April 1030 Bird at P.O. hole on arrival. Went inside. 1500 Climbed. Empty - there were wood peelings + a little moss inside. I left it. Too much P.O.! 12 April 1630 - 1730. Spied unsuccessfully. A bird seemed to flush from the hole toward Lower Bian. I set the blind. A nice new hole is being built facing wsw. in the tree just S of the lower snaggy tree. It's in the base of a stump. 13 April 1420 Damn, I'm good. The far hole in the BKOK is the one. 9 1190 was working feverishly on it, bringing out mouthfuls of chips. 8 426 could also fit inside, so it must be getting ready. There was also a third bird in attendance. See map on back. → 14 April 1230 Came by and bird was in hole. Put up string. 15 April 1230 Bird in hole on arrival. Outdoor - empty. 17 April 1200 Empty 18 April 1300 Bird in hole 1345 Bird in hole, climb - empty (working on hole) 20 April 1300 Hole empty (no bird in hole on arrival - but they have worked on it since 18 April.) On my way out, though, there was a bird sitting at the 86 a hole. But this hole looks blocked up. 21 April 1100 Bird in hole on arrival but hole still empty! 22 April 0900 No one in hole on arrival, hole empty - fresh chips indoor. 24 April 0930 Ditto. What's up? They seem to be mate guarding. A bird went to the p.o. hole after visiting the knot. (Another bird also went to the knot.
