Weasel? The other baby was at the hole when I opened it - very hungry & very upset. Have he been abandoned by the adults? Walter says to give the kid some crickets or leave him in the hole. I think I'll set some traps too. = dissection = well, if there were 2 of those little gobbies, I'd say 2, but I see only one (on the bird's right side) so... 1730 Gave the survivor 15 crickets (Force Fed last 2) He must have ruptured a (some?) air sacs, since his neck & chest were all puffy. I set 4 Shermans at the base of the tree. 13 June 0600 Traps unsprung. Baby crying (but warm). Ate 15 more crickets. He's still all puffy. Owl? 1730 Weighed 63 g. I declare him abandoned. I gave him 15 crickets and put him in the aviary. 14 June 0700 Found dead in aviary - didn't seem pecked up, just neglected. Air sacs still puffy. Dissection revealed no gobbies. Thus no babies were Fledged along the road this year. 26 Aug 9 988 (the breeder) is now at Finch !!
