7 Jan 1600 Acorn Count: From 1 position across the
road I counted 417 acorns. Most were stored
in the section at the very top. I'll estimate
1000 acorns in all.
Used a scope. Just one sync → & 0 me sit
20 Feb 1615 Acorn Count: From 2 positions I counted
329 acorns. I'll estimate total to be 300.
I think I overshot on 7 Jan - call it 800 then
31 Mar 1100 1097 caught at Lhay Power-Struggle!
She's a breeder - what's she doing there! (@ hit by car)
4 April 1345 Acorn Count: O NO MORE ACORNS!
6 April am. Installed dog Food Feeder at W Gate
10 April 1000 Power Struggle. No scope, so sex undetermined
(probably 8) Dog Food level has not gone down
noticeably, and no one was interested in it during the
power struggle. Came by sev hrs later - nothing hap.
12 April 0930 Driving by I see a vicious chase and drop
Katy off to investigate. [I moved dog food sometime]
17 Apr 0800 Fucking worthless rapidographs. Power-struggle. 10-15
birds involved. Still active at 0900. Quiet in afternoon
18 April 0600 No sign of power struggle.
16 May 0745 - 0815 I think they may be mate guarding. 3
birds are together lots. Twice a 4th has tried to
join but has been chased off. Twice birds visited
the NW Facing Hole that's in that NW snag. Yuk.
But also twice birds visited an area on the back of
the tree. Yes, several holes. But a starling is checking them out!
