7 Jan 1330 Acorn Count: 2008
(not very accurate)
After counting I noticed an ACW in 86 nest hole
27 Jan 0600 Ambush! Last night I saw 4 birds (seem to
be only 4 in the group) go into nest hole. Couldn't
resist. Did a pole ambush this am, about 0530.
I wobbled an one Flushed. We heard it (I think) later
after it got light, so I don't think it was eaten
by owls. Anyway, the hole had 3 birds - one NOBA
♀ and the two we caught last time (♂ 1372, ♂ 1373)
Katie reports NOBA 99 is (at least one) at this group.
So who is this ♂? And where were the 99's?
3 Feb 1700 Saw NOBA ♀, a banded ♀ (?), a male
w DB-LB on 10ft (?), ♂ ? Pretty Fucked up, huh.
OK, here's my guess as to this group. A banded
♀ is mom (570). Daughter from the missed 86
nest is the NOBA ♀. The 3 NOBA ♂'s are
either Breeding Males or Sons. My guess is
breeders → since there is no obvious Dad. But
see Sue's nest watch notes!
11 Feb 1000 Acorn Count: 2761
24 Mar Saw NOBA ♀ 5199
2 April no mate guarding (reports Gyndy)
3 April 1045 2+ way acorn count: ~ 1802
5 April 1300 Short, unsuccessful mate guarding watch. Lotsa starlings.
