1987 M. Stanback M. formicivorus CVGR HWHR 14 Dec '86 1600 Acorn Count 1798, but I probably missed some, + Walter Factor = 1900 total = 1900 28 Jan 1315 Saw 9 w YM (1040) 3 Feb 1515 Saw 883? (no) 22 Feb 1345 Acorn Count 2010 24 Mar Saw ow 8'. Could be 837 or 943. Also saw 1284 14.30 Bird in CVGR 85 nest hole. Flushalon arrival. 25 Mar 0815-0900 Watching 85 hole. No ACU's anywhere near. Nuttalls, however, were w/in 30 yds almost entire time, drumming, vocalizing, chasing etc. None checked out this hole, however. The door is missing From the Rain nest hole, so it looks like that hole is no longer a candidate. Cut new (low!) door in 85 hole 29 Mar Cindy says I spent an hour in a high inaccessible rotten hole. A nest? This early? In that hole? Lets hope not! Cindy will watch there in the early am. (no one in hole) 2 April A.m. Heavy duty mate guarding. Cindy says check snag by c.v. road. 3 April 0945 3 way Acorn count : 1291 86 nest hole in good shape! the high, nasty, granary hole! 4 April 1615 9 1040 Beside hole on arrival. She then went inside and immediately stuck her head out. (Was that a wood chip on her bill? Lets hope so) She had her head out most of the time for the next 10 minutes. She left the hole and flew to another branch. No one went to the hole for the next 5 mins. Then they all left gran alarmed. None went to 96 hole. Damn.
