Formicivorus Bln 1 HNHR 14 Dec 86 Acorn Count: 1334, but considering that Walt usually gets a couple hundred more than me, and that I rushed through this count, call it 1500 note: why are there so many birds on the Bln 1 Field Kit? I'll cat my hat if there are more than 4 or any BM. 10 Feb 11/15 Acorn Count 1651 3 Apr. 1 1300 3 way Acorn count 750 4 May 1430 - 1700 Came up to nest Find. I sat on Far Knoll and watched an Acw go to a cut out hole in the granary. I rushed down, climbed it, and found an empty starling nest. I cleaned it out, destroyed another starling nest (egs) in another cut out hole. Fixed the door at the 85 hole (my first cut out ever - that took too long so then the birds abandoned - scarring me for life). I was getting ready to climb the 86 b hole (old + noisy starling babies) when I saw a gopher snake was beating me to it (why didn't he go after the uncut hole nearby!) Anyway, it's a relatively low hole, but requires decisions at 3 Forks. He was in the nest within @ 5 minutes. He stayed in (w tail out) while I was nearby blocking up the other hole. Talk to Harry about an anti-snake chemical! (4:20-4:25 16 May 0950 - 1045 Watched Far westiness. They are busy constructing a new hole low on the w branch of the dead snag.
