1987 M. Stanback 4 M. Formicivorus H-B. HNHR (10ct) 1530 Well, I thought I Found it... Ends up there are 2 holes up here. The more likely one was empty. The other was all grown over + rotten + deep so I couldn't check it. No young babies in either (but could be eggs or quiet babes) No bird in hole on arrival. 4 Oct 0850-0915 Watch holes - twice a bird landed on the hole branch just around from the lower hole - I left blind to check - but there's no hole there. Back to blind to watch 0930-0945 Birds in the immed area near the holes - but no hole visitation. Some seemed preoccupied w acorns. 10 Oct 800 Cruising by see bird at upper hole 11 Oct 1100 Climb (think a bird flushed), empty. I guess I still can't rule out the other hole though. 19 Dec 0800 Acorn Count: main gran: ~7700 (2way+) free uphill: 540 stump: 500 log: 20
