1940 121 Sept. 28 (Saturday) To marsh west of Bennett Field with Dr. Benedict & class. 3 species of Salicornia, abundant (S. mu- crata less so than others). Suaeda linearis & americana abundant. Sept. 29 (Sunday). To pits barriers with Mr. Froze, Schyae. Sims blue, with hundreds of plants of Gentiana porphyrea, Martha tops. Sept. 30 (Monday) Hibiscus Moscheutos 11 pm Manchester CC. in Coal H. seeds 5 = 14 mm. leaves & capsules 2-5 cm. long (thin down) calyx 2.5 cm. long his. profusely 3 parted with brownish tawny color velvety. anther column 2 cm. long. stems thick, hairy. filaments stellate pubescent. Stigmas 3-4 cecae, wide in E.L. Morris no. 192 stamen bearing part 3 -> 2.5-3 cm. long 5 = 12 mm. 3.5 3.5 prob- all lancelet thinner white tenderer with velvety below anther column 3 1/4 up to stems hairy stems slender, flat filaments smooth Stigmas 1.5-2 cm. wide 4 cm. long.
