Horsetail Hastings Reservation
4 June 0700 arrived to find about a dozen wild pigs,
no birds seen.
0730 still no birds. Sayonara.
5 June 1400-1500 Searched all likely trees for nest.
The holes Walter found in the artificial granary
are incomplete and apparently have not
been worked since Walter found them.
No birds seen or heard. House wren is
building nest in cavity by road that woodpeckers
abandoned.
8 June Thought I saw a bird near abandoned nest
9 June 1700 Heard 2 birds
10 June 0900-1030 Played a portion of a tape of Lucia; it
brought a bird in immediately. The only bird I
"identified" during a 1.5 hr period was an
unbanded F. I tried to see where the birds
came from +/or went to, but the only place
where a bird visited twice turned up nothing.
The bird(s) responded another time to the tape,
but a third time didn't respond. I stopped
using it. Bird(s) very shy.
11 June 1030-1040 no sign of birds
