1986 M. Stanback N. formicivorus* OKCO HNHR 20 March 0815: After sitting in blind for 15 min w no luck, got out - birds. Sound equipment sux. Watched granary (later moved down - see below) saw: 5200, 886, 1160 (which is a ?) 5 unbanded ? 695 From DKHW 0930 [illegible] at top of big sycamore along creek toward CVZ. Has this been where much of the earlier noise was taking place? Yes, more birds here and in the big spindly oak about 50 yds toward OKCO from it (also along creek) There is still some chasing going on there. Birds are flying back & forth between here + CVZ. ? Saw ? 695 (Breeder From DKHW) *Note: 3 magpies in a tree. One flew down to a lower limb and attacked something A band-tailed pigeon fell out of the tree + foundered on the ground where it lay. The magpies didn't do anything, but maybe I was too close. I went over to check the pigeon - lower mandible broken, mouth Gummed up + rotten breath, 1 eye completely Gummed over, the other ? so. I moved the
