25 May 1420 Found nest! On NE side of granary
tree. In broken stump of former limb.
♂ was in nest (mostly ♀ with head out).
He stayed in nest [illegible] He was still
in the nest when I left my location
about 20 minutes later. (could this be baby?)
1430 Counted at least 4 birds coming in
and vocalizing. Sounded upset. Was it
me or scrub jays. Thus this group
has at least 5 members (and probably
6) None of these others approached
the nest at this time. Because
of my position (under bush) I was not
able to check the legs of any of the
other birds
1450 Changed position to better view other group
members. However this prevented me
from seeing nest. Actually, I don't remember
seeing any birds approaching the nest
limb. These birds are very shy and don't
spend much time at the granary-nest. I
did distinguish an unbanded ♀ (several times)
and an unbanded ♂. These were the only birds I
get a good look at.
1525 unbanded ♀ took insect bolus to nest. Unbanded ♂ chrrred.
