1985 Mark Stanback M. formicivorus PIPE (Warp5 see 17 June) Hastings Reservation 25 May 1245 arrive. Very few (and old) acorns in granary. No sign of birds. Saw a starling in granary. 1303 Still no sign of birds. Adios. 18 June 1430 arrive. No birds at granary. 1450 Play tape of Lucia waka r krts. No respons 1505 Lucia tape. A ♂ with Metal on [illegible] left (possibly with gray(?)) toward the foot and what looked like a dark-light split band on right. It quickly flew away from granary tree to an unknown landing not far away and to the SE of the granary. Then an unbauded ♀ flew from the same direction to the granary. She stayed only less than a minute. I then searched to the SE but found no birds. I saw 2 birds heading toward RI though. 1515 Lucia tape: no luck 1530 " ♀ came and stayed 10 minutes. She flycaught and also ate some stored acorn. She departed to the SE. I followed, found a likely looking snag but no birds. 1615 I saw a ♂ on a snag to the SE of this snag. He flashed. I watched the
