1985 Mark Stanback M. formicivorus W. Gate 23 May Hasting Reservation W. Gate 1355 - 1435 saw both ♂ or ♀ (both unbanded ?) ♀ ate part of acorn, stored acorn 25 May (cold, overcast) 0735 There are at least 2 birds here (i.e maybe 3) I is unbanded ♀. The birds are spending a lot of time collecting acorns, both down the road (w) and sw on the Arnold side of the road 0814 I believe there are 2 females here. One NOB4 ♀ seems to have a very ragged tail, while the other-? has an undamaged tail. 0820 rag-tail ♀ enters hole in central acorn storage snag 0829 ♀ leaves hole. Is this a nest or just a roost, since its cold or damp out. 0833 A ♀ examines hole, flies to perch, then back to and enters hole 0839 sticks head out for 20 sec, then back in 0952 ♀ leaves hole 0153 unidentified bird enters Checked nest - no eggs - Failure 19 June No W Gate birds. Only GATE birds
