Low Hay
(1 May) ⑤ 857 appears to be out of it altogether.
Every confusing situation, to say the least.
2 May Walter reports no egg laying today,
3 May I watch here 0540-0730. Both 99 are in +
out of the hole regularly, (9524 especially) but no
eggs laid,
4 May Susan reports 9524 lays + tosses herself a rust
egg, and the egg eaten communally. See her
notes
5 May Good stuff! 9524 lays normal egg, and 9587
tosses + eats solo! Reciprocal egg tossing from
the same hole! See Susan's + Phillips notes
6 May 9524 lays, + 9587 tosses, despite interference
by 9524 + 8NB. See Susan's, Phillips notes,
7-8 May No laying, see Susan's notes
11 May Watching here 0540
Smooth line, lumpy brochial
0545 9524 enters, leaves 0550.
0606 9587 enters briefly
09 9524 enters, 1.0. 0611 leave, 0616
14 9524 enters, 0623 leaves
checked hole, 0700. No eggs.
13 May Susan reports both 99 lay, 2 eggs
14 May 11 11 11 11 11 4 eggs
15 May I get a shock; Wader up here 1730 to "mark the
new eggs", and I find the nest hole empty! What
happened to the four (possibly 6) eggs that were
here yesterday. I will have to watch here tomorrow
1810, while writing notes, whole lotta chasing going on
here. These birds have problems.
