May
1 [illegible]
Philip has reported ① strong mate guarding and ② an interest in the 79-81-82 nest hole. However, walking down the lane at 1500 hrs, I flush a bird out of a new hole in a thin dead stub overhanging the lane (a Valley Oak) Back at 1700, I open up the back and find one egg, marked #①. Hole is very fragile, and may not survive long
22Jue Two nests' failed in this hole: See next record.
