Acorn Woodpecker
Warp 5
9 March First trip up here since last summer, to confirm what
was easily anticipated. Warp 5 appears to be abandoned:
No sign of acorns in the quarry. Watching from 1110-1140,
no trace or evidence of live birds here, either.
14 March ** GROUP UPDATE **
① J863 J864 NSAB
② Warp 5 abandoned 15 Sept 1983 ± 3 months
A wild guess, really. ♂636, ♀NB, and a 3rd bird
(♂528?) last seen on 23 March
10 April Scanning the treetops here from Pipeline, 1450. No
sign of any birds here yet
15 May Ann found the leg feathers of ♂528 M/Dblue-Dpink
(today, along the creek between Road 1 + Pipeline.
The remains were obviously recent! I suspect ♂528 (and
maybe ♂636?) has returned here. Need to do a watch
or two at Warp 5.
13 June ** GROUP UPDATE **
