Acorn Woodpecker
Corral Viejo Canyon
7 April banded ♂ shows up that proves to be old ♂769 M / B15-Yel / Red-Yel
of Blom 3! However, he looks like just a visitor here,
tamely poking around in the granary for a while, then flying
off. Would if he is established at Blom 3, or
is at large?
1015, 20 min at CU#1 reveals no activity here.
1115, Denise reports ♀NB and ♂837, but no others,
at CU Grande, while Philip & Esse ♀NB (drumming), ♂717,
♂718 in the tension zone between CU Grande, Gazebo,
Blom 3. Could the ♂717+718 be trying to move to
Blom 3, + is the ♀ with them separate from the ♀NB
at CU Grande?
23 April 0745, at OK Corral I find a ♀NB alone in the granary,
then ♂849 M/LPi-k-D6-err. He was at CU#2 on
7 April. This ♀NB is fairly persistent, garricking
occasionally and walking to herself + starlings,
Red-or(N)/or O830. New developments. ♂883 M / Red-or(N)
is here. Remarkable, because he may be the only
1983 nesting (other than a few on the Arnold) to
return. Can't figure out who else it could be.
→ Also saw him eat SceIoporus! Saw him tugging
at its r-trails, then eating them. He seems
well off with the ♀NB here. Perhaps. ♂849
was visiting from CU#2. No! 0950 After watching
at CU#2 I found 2 ♀NB plus ♂843 M / L-Pink
I then return to OK Corral + find 3 birds! ♀NB, ♂883,
♂849, and ♂853 M / Red-Blue! All 4 birds seen
