Acorn Woodpecker
Blom 3
9 March
** GROUP UPDATE **
① Juvs 910, 911, 912 NSHB
② 9767, M 769, M 839, 9841 disappeared 15 March 1983
± 2 months. All caught in 9 Dec a-bush, not seen again
+ missing 1 July.
③ 8768, 8840, J913 disappear abandoned 21 Aug 1983 ± 6 weeks
Last looked at 1 July; Blom 3 abandoned by 11 Oct.
7 April
<5 acorns remaining here in styrofoam grocery. See
Philips notes. It seems likely that Blom 3 may
now be occupied by 8717, 8718, and a 9NB. ① These
3 birds were hanging around here (between Gazebo CU
Grade + Blom 3), while Denise watching CU Grade at
the same time, saw 9NB + 8837. ② The quith 8717-
8718 drummed, not to be expected of an old resident
9, if indeed that's who she is.
1135 Yes! Back in the Blom 3 groaney are
8717, 8718, 9NB. Sehr Gut. Lots of wakai-ing here
too. I'm now certain that Blom 3 is occupied
by these 3 birds.
12 April A quick look, 0945, reveals 8717 and a 9 with a
very heavy left mustache. Back by 1100, I find
that same 9 (9NB) + 8717 again, but no trace of 8718.
Not even a suggestion that a 3rd bird might be
around.
13 June ** GROUP UPDATE
① 9NB founds Blom 3 30 March 84 (8717 8718 with her until
late April)
② 8768, 8769 return to Blom 3 1 May 84
