1983 R.L.Mumme M. fornicivorus Poison Oak Hill 21may 1600, I finally get up here in the annual Search for nests, and I do very well indeed. As I walk up into PO#1, I flush a bird from the vicinity of last year's nest, and climb up, ad find 4 healthy 12-day olds in the 1982 nest hole. Continuing on to PO#2, I see nobody looking out of the 82 hole, but on a hunch I climb up and find 3 good looking 16-day olds, plus one unhatched egg. I should come up again to band both groups in about 5 days. From PO #2 I headed down the Ridge toward Crith Ridge! Road 3, ad found PO #4 - an apparent state of abandonment. No acorns, no sign that any acorns had been present for some time. Yet, I heard birds there from PO #2, ad further down the ridge, near the old site of PO #3, I saw 3 birds, but no sign of a granary or nest. 25may Banded 4 nestlings at PO Hill #1 (Juvs. 865-868) ad 3 at PO Hill #2 (869-871). See capture records.
