1983 R.L. Mumme Melanerpes formicivorus School Hill 30 April After Walter reports a ♂ looking out of a new hole just below the 82 nest hole, I come up here, open the hole, and find 5 eggs, ~ day 6 in incubation. Another fragile hole, like last year's so we would do well to open it as few times as possible. 5 June Bad snake experiment here, 1030. The snake got out of the collar and took refuge in the hole above the 82 nest hole. While trying to extract the snake, I prematurely fledged one of the nestlings, which flew weakly to the ground near the Poison Oak tree + disappeared. Great. I peeped into the nest + saw at least 1 nestling still inside, 29 June ** GROUP UPDATE ** ① ♀753+ ♂755 Moved to Cho-go 20 April 1983 ±1week Last see-at SHill 6 April (Philip) nest found at Cho-go 9 May.
