21 April Would you believe 2 more eggs!? Checked the nest
at 1700, found 2 more eggs laid today:
(8) 26.4 x 19.5 (9494 likely)
(9) 25.8 x 17.8 (9496 likely)
This makes a total of 9 eggs, a new record
HNHA clutch! Actually, I shouldn't say total, since
somebody could lay tomorrow, I suppose. Room at the
bottom of the hole is definitely becoming limiting.
22 April Checked the hole, 1815. Still 9 eggs, so
clutch is complete as of 21 April. A good
time to check the nest for Hatching would be
1 May
1 May As promised, I checks the nest 1600. Eggs (1) + (3) have
hatched, and the young marked with blue sharpie ink on the
right leg. All other 7 eggs still present. Egg
(2) is not going to hatch: Liquid filled center. Will check
again early tomorrow. But these two definitely
hatched on 1 May. Eggshells still present in the nest.
2 May Checks the nest, 1600: 6 babies! The young from
1+3 with Blue on the right leg still apparent.
These two definitely the offspring of 9494! The
4 new today were marked on the left leg, and the larger
of these two on the left wing as well.
Eggs (8)+(9) have not yet hatched, but both have
a chance. (9) was pipped, but (8) was sort of stuck inside
an old egg shell. Hopefully that won't affect hatching.
Egg (2) was removed by me.
