Poison Oak Hill
23 Nov Strolling around up here, 1230 - , I make the
following notes on the status of the groups up here; (see map, reverse)
① PO Hill #1 -- Occupied + doing well: About 300 or so acorns
stored in the various limbs: One small section of the main
branch had fallen, with about 50 acorns, and I lodged it back
up in the tree. All the stored acorns were agrifolia, (the
only acorns I saw on the ground on the way up were agrifolia
② PO Hill #2 -- Marginal, at best. Maybe 10 or 20 stored
in the Valley Oak. Will have to check again, later.
③ Revolution -- Unoccupied; scant few storage holes after the fire.
④ Finch Ridge -- Occupied + doing pretty well. A Valley oak
granary: Both lobata and agrifolia acorns in the storage limbs:
a banded ♂ Metal/DBlue (pretty sure), DBlue-Wht/Mauve or Blue
(a guess) seen further down the ridge may belong to
this group.
⑤ Low Post -- occupied, though not many acorns yet; Live Oaks
nearby have a good crop. Valley Oak, back-style granary;
Metal/CPink (probably)
A banded ♂, Br-Or/Red (a wild guess) almost certainly is
in this group.
⑥ Post Flat -- One of the two 'guardian' VO's near the lower edge
is the granary. Well-stocked with acorns;
⑦ False summit -- unoccupied, apparently for some years
⑧ Far Summit -- occupied, doing fairly well, acorn wise. Small VO granary,
much poison oak around past
