1982 R. L. Mumme 2 Melanerpes formicivorus Lower Arnold 2 27 June Here at 1100: No sign of a second nest, but an adult ♂ and J782 Corn/Yellow-Corn Seen here. 26 July Not a bad watch here, 1700-1900. All 3 Juveniles 782 Corn/M, 783 M/LBlue-or, 784 Dcorn/DBlue-Yell(M) LPink/BIR plus Q637 M/Black. The big news is that the long lost Q697 Black-Yellow/M was here, too! Not seen since last November. I don't know if she's been here all along or has just returned, or is just visiting. Saw her only once, briefly but clearly. At least 1 adult ♂ (probably ♂611 , ♀ but not sure) here as well. 17Aug Counted states, 1830. Main granny 45 Elsewhere 0 TOTAL 45 23Aug ** GROUP UPDATE ** ① Reinstate Q697. She did not disappear ~25 Dec 1981. Still Present at LA2 on 26th July 1982. It is quite possible that she left temporarily during spring before returning, but our watches here were so poor it is better to say she was probably here all along. 11Dec Watching here, 0900-1030, ♂611, Q637 Q697 Q698 (not seen since April) and J♂782 ad J♀783. Only J784 (probably gone) not seen.
