1982 R.C. Munne Melanerpes formicivorus Lower Arnold 2 23 Feb Counted stores here, 1230: As usual, they were spend all over the place, but I counted 620 total Also, saw 9637 LPink/BIR as I walked up. Also, ♂611 DBlue-wrt/6count, chasing a nuthatch 9 April Counted stores, 1400. 325 TOTAL Nobody in any holes, no birds period. 26 April A nest in the back hole here: 3 eggs! 2 May Opened up the back hole here to find 5 eggs, marked + measured: See nest record for details. This means that the clutch was probably completed on 28 April, so we could expect hatching by 9 May and banding by 31 May 14 May Opened hole (seenest record): 3 nestlings (one quite abit smaller than the other two) ~5-6days old. Certainly 2 of these should fledge. Also, 2 unhatched eggs were present. One was infertile, rotten- liquid center (I know, because I broke it accidentally. Yecch!), and one contained a fairly well developed embryo. 31 May Banded x bled 3 healthy nestlings See Nest record & capture records. Now Juvs # 782-784. 7 June Counted stores, 1700: 225 Also, a baby looking out of the nest hole here. 14 June Breezed by here, 1730: No sign of a 2nd nest 18 June **GROUP UPDATE** ① 9697 disappeared 25 Dec 1982 ± 2 months Last seen 2 Nov 1981, missing on 20 Feb
