Mumme Melanerpes formicivorus Upper Arnold 2 12 Jan ** GROUP UPDATE ** ① J682, J683 not seen after banding. ② 9621 disappeared about 30Sept 1981 ± 2 weeks ③ 9591 11 11 1 Sept 1981 ± 1 month 9621 last seen on 13 Sept, gone for sure on 14 Oct 9591 last seen on 17 July, gone for sure on 14 Oct 9591's disappearance could have been precipitated by the death of 9621, but we don't know. ④ 9632 moves as adult to UA2 1 Oct 1981 ± 2 weeks Not here on 13 Sept, but present and aggressive on 14 Oct, originated from Lambert. 27Jan Walking by, 1500, a large limb from the 2° granary has fallen: Will have to get a hole count next time I come up. Some of it is still usable. I took a sample of 50 acorns from the fallen limb. Also, I got a glimpse of a ♀, metal/? (Call Esaw), which would certainly suggest that 9632 is still here 20Feb Counting stores, 1400. It looks like this limb loss was ~ 600 storage holes, with 250 still usable. Total loss was thus 350 holes "2°" granary 1175 "1°" granary 1075 2250 TOTAL Also managed to hallucinate a complete census, birds seen across S Ravine and at a great Alstare. ♂123 D Blue/Metal, 8590 M/Dom-Com. ♂681 Yellow/M ♂632 M/Red-wht.
