1982 R.L. Nunne Melanerpes formicivorus Arnold I 12 Jan ** GROUP UPDATE ** ① 567 moved to Fanny Arnold 25Sept 1981 ± 2 weeks Definitely in at FA on 14Oct 1981, but not there at 30 Aug. 27 Jan Watching here, 1000. Things starting to make sense. 568, ♂679, 680, 505, ♂100 all seen well, Conspicuously absent is 566, who might very well be kaput. Seems like I should have seen him. It appears certain that Keep Out was just an AI extension. I saw 568, 679, 680 repeatedly, in the keep out area, as well as in the AI granary, All 3 appeared to ever store live oak acorns in the AI granary as well. There appear to be O acorns in the keep out granary now, too. I also saw 2 Lambert birds (see Lambert notes) near keep out + Big Tree, along with all the AI birds. About 50m W of keep Out, however, I saw all manner of unbandied birds hanging out. I don't know what's going on there. End off or watch 1400. Sample of 50 acorns taken from the easy access part of the granary 20 Feb Counted stors here, 1200. 2175 TOTAL 23 Feb 1320, I find 567 Red/Red near keep Out (see FIt notes) 9 Rach Watching near here, + keep Out. 1245 I find 567 Red/Red M/Red cating acorns in the granary here, so I would have to say that she has returned home! Up by KO, I find 100, 558, & 505: Alan reports 679 along the fence line here, too and 680. 566 must be gone!
