Melanerpes fcrmicivorus
School Hill
19 April Checked the hole via peeper: Still No eggs, 1730.
21 April " " " " " Hey, 2 eggs, 1530!
28 April Opened the hole today, marked + measured 6 eggs
(see nest record for details). This means that
egg #6 was laid on 25 April, meaning I should anticipate
hatching about 6 May and banding about 28 May.
10 May Peeped in here to check for hatching. I'm shy about
opening this hole too many times, since the wood is so
thin and the whole thing is tough to put back together.
Anyway, looking in I saw 2 unhatched eggs (for sure)
and I'm fairly sure 4 babies (3 for certain),
~ 4 days old I guessed.
28 May Banded 3 young (753-755), 1400. I may
have blown the estimate of young on 10 May
5 June Counted stores 0900: 500 TOTAL
17 June Around Sunset, I flush 2 juveniles from the
1980 failed nest hole

19 Aug Found all 3 Still juvies down around Yt Pump, 0700.
Also, J753 Red-wrt/LBlue seems to be molting into
♀ plumage, while J754 + J755 look like they will be
males. Confirmation needed, though.
0748, upon SHill proper, 886, 8402, 9260 all see well,
plus J755 back up here. No sign of 9668.
