1982 R.L. Mumme 6 Melanerpes fornicivorus Road 3 0900 23 May Minor disaster here. A car from the Ervine field ornithology class found two Road-killed woodpeckers from here: They prove to be 8537 wht/or Yellow-wht/Yellow-131K and 8655 M / Yellow-131K. Neither bird was particularly fresh, so they were probably nailed yesterday. (22 May) 2 June 1500, despite the loss of the two helpers, @ I band 4 healthy nestlings here, now Juvs. 792-795 7 June Counted stores, 0900 Valley Oak 150 Sycamore 175 TOTAL 325 18 June ** GROUP UPDATE ** ① 8184 disappeared ~ 30 March 1982 Present 28 March, definitely gone 1 April ② 8537 + 8655 Road killed on 22 May 1982 18 Aug Counted stores, 0900: Valley Oak 25 Sycamore 0 Plus various bits & pieces, Total 25 Also got a pretty good 5 min watch in: 868, 8265, 8654, 8710, Juvs. 792, 793, 794 all seen well. 23 Aug ** GROUP UPDATE ** ① J795 Not seen after banding 2 June 1982 : 56ct Good watch, 0730-0930. 8265, 868, 8654 8710 cell seen well, plus J792 + J794 both molting into plamage Akosan 868 Bk-corn/Black of Still-T (!) intruding here NO Acorn storage yet!
