1982 R.C. Munne Melanerpes formicivorus Gute 22 April Another try here, 1630: Pretty good: Good Q-following Q519 also Q was in the 1981 nest hole for awhile, too. 23 April watching 1105. 1240, Not very good. I always manage to be looking elsewhere when the birds flew in rout of the granary. However, 1220-1235 the core 3 were all inside the 81 nest hole again 25 April Checked the 81 hole here. No eggs yet, but the hole had been substantially deepened, and I was somehow was inspired to open it up for a new cut. 27 April Watching 0740. Pre nesting behavior on back. Guarding still going on in earnest, but Q519 may be laying already. She entered the 81 nest hole at 0745 (0645) and didn't leave until 0807. Both Q followed her in, and she was down in the hole. At 0804 Q656 Red-whit/D Balc top of the of Road 3 came into the granary, while all the core birds were down in the hole. After the core 3 left ~3 min late, Q627 chased him out. End 0900 29 April Checked the hole, 1630: 3 eggs marked! Birds appear to be incubating, though the clutch is fresh. 3 May checked the hole, 1030. 4 eggs, the 4th mated, all measured (See next record). This would mean clutch complete 30 April. Expect hatching about 11 May, and bading about 1 June 16 May Checked hole, 4 nice-looking nestlings! See nest record 18 May Roosting watch. Pretty sure Q626 M/ came to the ray Q626 hole late, entered, and then a round-headed (Q?) bird left, meaning Q626 roosted in the nest.
