Melanerpes formicivorus
Gazebo
17 Aug A quick + partially successful watch, O 830 - 0930.
All 3 adults (♂516, ♂571, ♀653) seen well, plus 1 juv.
Orange / DBlue-wr(?)
J821
7 Oct 1345, watching here. First bird I see is none other
than ♂570 mauve/M, Back after an absence of ~6mor,
where she's been, and why she's returning now (if
indeed she is: could be just "visiting") I don't know.
Also saw ♂653 and J822 M / LGrn,
probably in ♂ plumage, but it might be a bit early to
tell for him. At least one adult ♂ M / seen, but that
could be either ♂516 or ♂571
3 Dec After a long struggle, 1145 - 1330, I finally pull off
a complete census: ♂516, ♀653, ♂570, ♀819
(I think ♀), ♂820 (for sure ♀) ♂821 + ♂822
(Both sure ♂♂). Only bird missing was, of course,
♂571, who has moved to Hay Blom.
The strange thing is that there was a lot of activity
in the old storage trees between Gazebo & Blom 3.
Lots of NB birds, plus a few banded birds from
Gazebo (♀819), CV Grade (♂718), and Blom 3
(♂768 of Blom 3). No idea what the commotion was
all about. A fair amount of chasing, Harris's, quailas,
