End 1100. 8 April A quick pass, acorns still present, 1800 13 April Alarm + I swing by at 1500, Esce ♀570 mauve/m and two ♂♂, one Metal/ 26 April Alan reported a bird flushing out of the '81 nest tree yesterday: I come by at 1040 and do the same: I flush a bird out of a hole out of the highest live limb in the tree. It wouldn't be hard to climb to but it is a thin, long branch, and there is a hole beneath it (i.e., the limb is hollow). I'll have to think about it. Otherwise it would require two lengths of extension ladder. 27 April Well, I decided to gamble + climb to the hole. Not easy and extremely uncomfortable to hang there, but I manage to open the hole: 6 eggs, one fairly fresh, the others already opaque. I would guess that 6 May would be a good date to expect hatching, and 28 May (baring further developments) for banding. 3 May I stroll by at 1600 1745, Nobody in the nest hole. Have I caused abandonment? 5 May Another walk past 0900: No problem. A ♀ flushes from the hole, and I heard no babies when it flew.
