End 1200. 12 Jan ** GROUP UPDATE ① 9587 returns to Low Hay 28 sept 1981 ± 1 week Probably seen back on 5 Oct 1981, certainly on 1 Nov. Still absent on 20 Sept 30 Jan Granary census, 0830-1030. Lots of action, granary defense wise 2 ♀ intruders, 1 NB, and one ♂ read or-wht/or as Metal/, which could really only be ♀696 of 1800, who I hadn't seen since November. No storing, but I did see birds hassling a ♂ kestrel inspecting that hole in the 2° granary, plus a few scrub jay chases Actually, 9587 did store 1acorn late in the watch. She brought it in from the 2° area. Complete census, ♂461, 9523 9524, ♀587 all seen well. 10 Feb 1530 Counted stores: 2° granary 255 1° granary 3345 3600 TOTAL Also took a sample of ~40 acorns, replaced with my own.
