Mono Lake, Mono County CA
1 Jan Started the New Year by climbing Granite Mnt with D. Winkler,
B. McCaffery, D. [illegible] Taylor, C. Teare, and Emily (?),
of the Mono Lake Committee. A very nice walk. Went
to Mammoth in the evening for a Pizza dinner and
"The Empire Strikes Back."
2 Jan Returned to Berkeley with Dave & Brian, dessert with Cindy,
3-5 Jan Berkeley, Paul Sherman in town, etc.
6 Jan Returned to Hastings with Walter just after dark
Hastings Reservation, Monterey County CA
7 Jan Watched some at Rd 3 x Finch after washing clothes
and getting organized in the morning.
8 Jan Watched at Low Hay in the AM, Natalie Demong here
in the lunchtime. Road 1 in late afternoon, roosting
there, too.
9 Jan Acorn weighing + poor watch at Buckeye. Nancy
arrives today. Roosting at CA2, and a movie
at the Carmel Valley Library "Le Petit Theatre de
Jean Renoir"
10 Jan Fooled around at Blomone & Gazebo, weighed acorns, looked for
thrushes on School Hill, roosting at School Hill
11 Jan Ran the mist nets for thrushes in the AM, Weighed acorns,
Baked a cake. dessert in the cabin with Nancy, the Griffins,
12 Jan Did the SHill winter bird census with Walter, excellent watches
at Finch, Rd 1, Gate, + WGate, a great deer kill in
Square Nail Flat, weighed bugs.
13 Jan SHill plot census, watched at 1800, weighed acorns, a short run,
(deer kill totally devoured & moved!), worked on Jostetal with Nancy,
