1981 R.L. Munne Mela-e-pes formicivorus Warp 5 20 oct I stumble up here 1330, and find ♂636 looking like he (Lorn/M) is frozen to the granary. Hasn't moved a muscle by 1345, even with me setting up the hide 30 meters away. Lots of acorns stored already, both in the 1st granary and the D Blue-OPink/DBlue-OPink nest tree. 1355, ♂528 shows up briefly as well. 1500, Boring, no trace of any other activity. Will have to try some other time. 23 oct Much better watch here, 0930. Complete census. Two ♂ above, ♂629 M / wht-LBlue and all 3 jugs 702 or-P/M, 703 M / mauve, and 704 L-Pat/Black all 3 apparently just melting into ♀ plumage! ♂703 & 704 certainly were in ♀ plumage, and J702 was marginal, but I think I saw enough black head feathers to convince me. Only other interesting item is that in the VO granary, I saw ♂528 violently peck at both ♀704 and J702 (separate occasions), as if he was trying to exclude them from the granary. Once ♂703 was on the branch with ♂528, and ♂528 made a move (it seemed) to give 703 the same treatment, but nothing happened.
