28 March Start 0905. Looking for following of 9265, sign of a nest(?)
and 9539. 0950, 9265 flies off, ignored (not followed)
by 8184. 868, 9265, 8537, 8618 all seen well,
so 9539 is most likely gone, disappeared March 1
± 2 weeks. No following, no interest in nest holes.
1000, Take it back, 9265 flies into granary, 2818
right behind her. 1005, 9265 flies to 1980 nest hole,
enters briefly, leaves with woodchips. 1030, she appears
to be working on a hole in the VOak granary, in the
live horizontal limb that overhangs the road. End 1130.
In summary, these guys look like their starting to get interested
in nesting. Will have to watch here again soon, Whoa,
8184 looks a bit at another hole start at the base of the
lower granary limb in the Valley Oak
1 April Start 1545, cold, drizzly day. A8 looking out of the 1980 nest
hole as I pull up. 1600-1625, 8537 r 8618 alone
in the granary area. It was 8537 in the nest hole.
9265 here earlier, may have been followed by
both 88. They could be getting ready to do
it. Anyway, these 2 helpers Failed to Follow (FTF)
9265. 1626 9 flies in, good double follow
1641 9265 enters hole, think 8537 already in. He exits
1648 9265 in alone. 1650, 868 at nest
either he or 8618 enters at 1651. 1703 868 leaves nest
1730, 8537 in nest alone. 1738, 9265 8537 enter
confused r.d. 1820.
